Literary Festival: “Passage To India”
The 2008 Literary Festival will fly under the banner “Passage To India,” featuring a historic gathering of renowned Indian authors (who write in English) with ties to the nation. Featured guests include: Salman Rushdie, Anita Rau Badami, Amit Chaudhuri
David Davidar, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Indu Sundaresan, Manil Suri, and Dr. Shashi Tharoor.

Aspen Prize for Literature
This year, we are honored to present the Aspen Prize for Literature to Salman Rushdie, who will be feted on Sunday, June 22. Details to be announced.

Workshops Extended By One Day
Thanks to the generosity of the Danny Kaye and Sylvia Fine Kaye Foundation, we are able to realize a long-held wish to extend the workshops by one day and lower our per-day tuition. The five-day workshops will continue through Friday, June 27.

Faculty/Student Dinner
By popular request, we continue to add informal opportunities (along with our ever-popular Book Signing Reception and Wrap Party) for students* and their teachers. This year we are including a student-faculty dinner in our roster of social gatherings. Best of all, it’s included with your tuition when you sign up for at least four days of workshops.

More Financial Aid
With the generous support of several patrons, every Aspen Summer Words participant is in part financially underwritten. This year, we are offering more financial aid than ever before and adding some full-tuition scholarships to the mix.

Young Writers Workshop
New this year, we have restructured our annual teen camp (previously part of the Scribes & Scribblers summer camps) to be included in the five-day workshop schedule of Aspen Summer Words. This hands-on workshop is geared for young writers ages 14-18.
