Highlights for 2008!

Back at the Wyly! The Aspen Writers’ Foundation (AWF) collaborated with the Wyly Community Arts Center in Basalt with astounding success in 2006, offering a full-day camp with mornings of writing and afternoons of art and bookmaking.

Aspen Art Museum (AAM) and AWF will collaborate again this summer with “Picture Your Words.” Hosted at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen, we will offer a one-week session that explores the relationship between writing and art.

“Adventure and Storytelling” at the Roaring Fork Club in Basalt! Calling all spies, assassins, detectives and explorers – this camp will have all your friends envying your adventures.

“Fantastic Stories” a co-presentation by the AWF and Anderson Ranch Art Center. Please visit their website for information and registration on this camp where you read your stories out loud and turn your ideas into a book.

"Young Writers Workshop” as part of Aspen Summer Words Cerena Thomsen will be teaching a workshop for teenagers, (ages 14 – 18) who are ready for an adventure in storytelling while making new friends.
Faculty

Scribes & Scribblers (S&S), now in its 17th year, offers writing day camps for kids aged 8 to 12. We invite young people to join us each summer to:
• discover their voice
• tell their stories
• create artwork
• meet new friends
• play games
• take field trips
• find adventure

Scribes & Scribblers gives kids time and space to tell their own stories in their own voices.
— Susan Benner, longtime camp teacher

Goals
Our chief goal with Scribes & Scribblers is to help kids discover that writing is fun. We will:
demonstrate that everyone can write
illustrate that stories are everywhere
explore basic elements of storytelling: language, character, plot and more

"We love your program. Our kids learn so much in such a short time while attending
the camp. Thank you so much for all you do."
— Satik Andriassian, 2004 S&S Parent

No matter which camp you join this summer, each is a fun and creative exploration with words, art and new friends. Each camp samples all kinds of writing and wraps with an author party and reading/performance or exhibition of some kind.
