No matter which route you select, you can count on the Aspen Summer Words educational programs to provide outstanding instruction from faculty who are as highly regarded for their writing as for their teaching; an intimate learning environment (writing classes are limited to 12 students); and above all, a safe and nurturing setting for sharing your work. As our returning alumni and faculty members will tell you, Aspen Summer Words is the ideal venue for discovering your voice and your craft. Our finely tuned Writing Retreat offers three types of writing workshops for every level and interest: 

Five-Day Juried Workshops
Ideal for students seeking intensive instruction and individualized critique to polish a manuscript they have in development. Daily writing exercises, reading assignments and discussion of student work are the basis for the classes. A manuscript submission is required for admission. 

Five-Day Non-Juried Workshop
Our introductory offerings include two workshops for novice or experienced writers of all ages who wish to get their feet wet in the world of writing: Beginning Fiction for adults and the Young Writers Workshop for teens. No writing sample is required for admission.

Interactive Workshops
These dynamic and multi-dimensional courses examine the written word from every angle, inspire creativity and expand horizons. No manuscript is required for admission.
