The Aspen Writers' Foundation seeks to bring applicants whose backgrounds and experiences offer varying perspectives on living and writing in a multicultural world to the Aspen Summer Words Writing Retreat and Literary Festival. Because of our strong belief in the value of diversity, we especially encourage applications from those of African American, Mexican American, Native American, and Puerto Rican descent, as well as those whose backgrounds and experiences would provide dynamic dimensions to our Retreat and Festival.
The Aspen Writers' Foundation currently offers full scholarships (flight, tuition, and lodging) for Summer Words workshops in fiction, memoir, and poetry, and several partial scholarships for tuition in various genres.
The scholarship recipient is responsible for his/her own meals and insurance providing travel and medical coverage. Valid identification is required for travel; the selected student is responsible for arranging all required travel documents.
